Where have I been

I can't believe it's almost been a year since I've written anything.  Thank Goodness it's just me here with my thoughts and my art.  Well, my thoughts anyway.
The drought continues. . .

I am hoping for some signs of life this year.  I never imagined how much children could drain you of every last drop of energy and creativity.
I have struggled with one project after another and it just seems pointless at the moment.  I had a beautiful little something I was painting on and last I went to doodle with it I found that my son had completely destroyed it.  I was forlorn and completely exhausted by the thought of it.

I can't be angry with him, I left my studio door wide open for him and gave him the go-ahead to explore my room.  It's just what happens.
I am crazy with the idea that I have some talent and at the moment it is being wasted.  Wasted on cleaning toothpaste out of every crevice in the bathroom.  Wasted on keeping the kitchen clean.  Wasted on sleep.
I didn't use to sleep.  I'd stay up all night painting away. . .
Sleep is a must now.  Got to have sleep.  Some nights I just pass in my clothes.  Too tired from the day to even brush my teeth.

I can't blame my children.  I could set myself up to spend the day painting while my children are out with their father and I just sit there.  Finally, I would move myself to the couch and have trouble even pressing the power button to turn the darn thing on.
So, here we go again.  Will this be the year?  Lord, I hope so.

Setting up Shop

I have taken over the dining room and I have turned it into a mini studio. My studio in the basement is so darn cold. I don't feel like dragging the portable heat down there right now. I would spend a small fortune heating the space up : ( Oh well, warmer days will be here before I know it and I'll be back in my space. It's such an awesome space, it's just been really really cold.

Anyhow, the dining room table is working well. It's actually a really good place for card making and I have been in high production. This is a great time of year for cards as well, for pretty obvious reasons. I'm thinking of what the price of these little gems should be. I am formulating a strategy - need to have one of those. Mostly, I am enjoying the rhythm of it. It's relaxing.

I've got a nice little stack working and I'll need to replenish the card stock soon. I'll have pictures as soon as I package them and get a label. I wonder If I have some of my old labels around here somewhere. Ahhh, probably need to make some new labels anyway. That will be next on my to do list. I am just gonna take this as it comes - that will be my strategy : )

Coming soon, handmade cards. To be given or stored or to sell or to throw. It's card making season and it's never a bore! : )

Bitch

It's hard to accept the bitch in some girls. I say girls and not women; though, as far as age is concerned they are technically women.
Why I concern myself is a question I will forever ask myself. Why I let them hurt, bother, and get to me is beyond me.
I should just let it go.
I should just let it ride.
I should just let it be.
I don't and I would like to thank all the GIRLS who have been a bitch to me!
Thanks Bitches you have made me a better artist.
Thanks Bitches you have made me a better women.
Thanks Bitches you have made me a better mother.
Thanks Bitches you have made me a better wife.
Thanks Bitches you have made me a better lover.
Thanks bitches I am a better me because of you!

art depression

I am depressed artistically at the moment. Severely depressed. Not in the literal sense that I need to be on meds (ugh) and I need a shrink or anything. I just haven't created anything in so long that I seriously need to do something about it.
I used to pump out work on a regular basis - some months painting or drawing up to 10-20 pieces. That was before my children were born. It's been 5 years. Five glorious years of little smiles, giggles, baby toes and all the fun that comes with motherhood. I do call it fun : ) I love my kids; however, I have lost myself.
A few years ago I decided to bust back into my little painted world. I landed a mural and thought I could keep a steady regime of work happening in my studio. I currently have 4 projects that I have been working on for a YEAR!
WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!
It's time, I'm cleaning up my act.
